There is no recommendation from the manufacturer, but we do suggest to submerge the 4-Layered Earth/Carbon Filter in water (filling up a Tupperware with its lid).
Some clients stated that the water tasted funny if the 4-Layered Earth/Carbon Filter in the bottom tank was not used for 3 - 6 months. It did not happen for all clients – only some.
