Scrubba™ Wash Bag

How does the Scrubba™ Wash Bag work?

The Scrubba™ Wash Bag uses the same principles as an old fashioned washboard. Clothing is cleaned by rubbing them against the insides of the bag along with your chosen choice of cleaning agent.

How much clothing can I wash at once?

We recommend washing approximately two days worth of clothes in the Scrubba™ Wash Bag at a time. While the Scrubba™ Wash Bag can hold more clothing, it is most efficient when the bag is not stuffed full with clothes.

How do I know my valves are sealed shut?

Scrubba™ Wash Bags come with double closure air valves. The first closure is the cap, while the second is a deformable base component. To let air out simply open the cap and squeeze the sides of the valve, forcing the base component to open at the slit. Squeezing the valves from the outside while watching from the inside will help determine if your valves are properly opened or closed.

How long does it take to clean using the Scrubba™ Wash Bag?

On average, rubbing your clothes on the Scrubba™ wash board for 20 - 40 seconds is sufficient to remove dirt, oils and odours from your clothing. For a machine quality wash, rub the clothes for 3 minutes. For stubborn stains, the clothing may either be rubbed longer or you may leave the clothing to soak in the Scrubba™ bag for 2 - 3 hours. When soaking be sure to keep the Scrubba™ bag in an upright position to avoid water leakage.

What is the fastest way for me to pack my Scrubba™ Wash Bag away?

You can quicken the process of deflating your Scrubba™ bag by laying the bag down and gently pressing on it to remove as much air from the bag as you can before sealing. If there is additional air in the bag after you have sealed it you can get rid of it by opening and squeezing the valves.

Can I use hot water in my Scrubba™ bag?

We recommend you do not use water hotter than 50c (122F). Simply put, if it is too hot to hold your hands in it should not be used in the Scrubba™ bag.

What is the capacity of Scrubba™?

The whole bag can contain around 3 gallons of water (13 L) but since the washing method requires you to rub the clothes against the washboard from the outside, the optimal working volume is around 1 gallon (3 - 4 L). There are markings on the front of the Scrubba™ Wash Bag to help you add the correct amount of water and clothes.

How do I dry my clothing after washing?

The most effective way to dry your clothing is to wring them out and lay them on an absorbent towel such as the NanoTowels. Roll the towel up and twist the towel as hard as you can.
